"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!"
Many teams work hard without worrying whether they are working smart. Working long, often boring, sessions is often counter productive. Introducing new and exciting activities often gets groups to see problems in a new light and become more creative in their solutions. Activities are developed according to the need of the group and range from contemplative to all action. In the past groups have:
Played sports to free the mind
Touched history to put things into perspective
Imbibed new culture to consider alternatives
Used exciting methods to inject energy
Also important is the time away from the workshop. By creating different atmospheres we make the whole experience memorable, something the group will use as a common bond, and will refer to for many years to come.
We have developed a set of activities which are different. Each is designed to either balance the activities with alternative pursuits and/or draw out important lessons. While they are fun and make the workshop memorable, they are not jollies. Learning and sharing doesn't have to be boring!
Each location lends itself to different activities, all of which are explained in the locations section.
Killyleagh is based on Strangford Lough and therefore offers a full range of aquatic activities. From fishing to learning how to sail the activities range from peaceful to active. The beautiful surrounding countryside again offers lots of potential with the normal activities supplemented with the Wetlands centre and Photography workshops. Killyleagh is based in "Patrick's land" and many activities can be developed around the history of the Saint. The "Irish Experience" night shouldn't be missed!
Chillingham is a medieval castle offering a fine range of activities. Horse riding and clay pigeon shooting are offered together with instruction in watercolour painting. Dowsing and Ley-line divining are two unusual activities that are great fun, and because they are different, add to the memorable experience. Our local expert can either tell you about the fascinating battles between the English and the Scottish over the years or we can build activities based around the history. A medieval banquet is an option for larger teams.
